Students across the country are in school except in Seattle where a teacher's union has been on strike since Wednesday.

Five thousand educators and support staff filled picket lines this week, the first teacher's strike in 30 years.

The union says it's secured guaranteed recess time and pay for substitutes, but both sides are still far apart on teacher pay, evaluations, and
student testing.

The state's Supreme Court is fining Washington $100,000 for every day they fail to fully fund education.

The strike has delayed the school year for some 53,000 students in almost 100 schools
