Nigeria's military says troops have rescued more than 25 women and children from Boko Haram.

An army spokesman says many Boko Haram terrorists were killed during the rescue operation, which destroyed seven more of the group's camps in northeastern Nigeria.

Soldiers, supported by airstrikes, deployed on foot into the Sambisa Forest, attacking and destroying the terrorists' stronghold. The Islamists planted land mines around their camps, making it dangerous for the rescuers.

About 700 women and children have been saved in the past week, though some were killed by Boko Haram during the rescue missions.

It's unclear if those rescued include any of the Chibok schoolgirls kidnapped a year ago. Some 219 remain missing.
