Meet Gudiel Mendez

Gudiel Mendez has been married for over 26 years to his wife, María. He and his wife have been blessed with 8 children, 7 of which still reside at home. Gudiel works hard to make sure he brings home food for his family to eat. One day while at work, Gudiel noticed that his vision was blurry and by nightfall it was even worse. The bright lights of the cars blinded him and often caused him to lose control of the truck while driving. His vision was limited and he needed help quickly. Gudiel knew that he was now at risk to not only lose his job, but also lose the ability to feed his family. He worried about how he was going to get the help that he needed so that he could continue to provide.

One day while listening to the radio, heard some news that had the potential to change his life and his situation. Gudiel learned that "Missión Luz", a project of CBN Guatemala, had come to Jutiapa to perform free surgeries for those in need. This was his glimmer of hope in such a difficult situation. Through partners like you, he was about to see clearly again and be able to provide for his family.

Gudiel was very happy to know that CBN had come to restore the vision of so many people who needed it and he was elated to be the recipient of such a life-changing surgery. Gudiel is very thankful to CBN for giving him the surgery that he needed to restore his sight, helping him keep his job, and helping him to continue supporting his family. "I'm so happy to know that there are organizations like CBN that are interested in improving the health of others. Thank you for your help."
