CBN.com — A pile of wood is all that's left of Narcissa's home. Last November a typhoon ripped through the Philippines leaving death and destruction in its wake.
CBN quickly provided emergency food and water for people like Narcissa and her children. In addition, a CBN medical team provided free treatment for storm survivors.
As Narcissa's brother helped her to re-build her house, a CBN trauma team also provided grief counseling for Narcissa and others who lost family members in the typhoon.
"The counselor encouraged me not to lose hope in God and to keep praying," reports Narcissa. "I felt better after we prayed."
We also helped children face their loss using art therapy. As school began again, we set up a special screening of Superbook, telling the children about the first Christmas.
"I liked how the angels announced the birth of Jesus. I'm glad He was born. I know He is helping us," says Aljen, Narcissa's son.
Teachers say that Superbook has been a big help to kids traumatized by the storm. In fact, many children have prayed to receive Jesus as their Savior!
"Superbook took their minds off their bad experiences and fears from the typhoon. Even I was reminded to have faith in God, to always pray, and to hang on to Him alone," says Genesel, the children's teacher.
"I thank God He saved our lives. And I'm grateful for people like you who care for us," says Narcissa.
