CBN.com — Misha is one of five children in a very poor Gypsy family in western Ukraine.
"Life is hard here," says Misha.
Misha's life is not just hard. His life is in danger. Misha has a large hernia that could rupture at any time.
"I live in constant fear," says Misha's mother, Lyuba. "He needs surgery desperately, but we can't afford it."
"It hurts a lot," says Misha. "But I dream that one day I will get surgery to fix it."
"It is difficult for me to see him tormented by pain from this hernia," says Lyuba. "It gets larger every time he goes out, walks, or runs."
Misha's father isn't educated and jobs are hard to find. He struggles to take care of his family by picking and selling mushrooms.
"Papa works as hard as he can, but sometimes we don't even have food at home," says Misha.
Misha's family goes to a church that partners with CBN's Orphan's Promise.
"I believe that God can do anything, even make it so I can have surgery," says Misha.
Once made aware of the situation, Orphan's Promise got Misha to a hospital immediately and paid for his surgery.
"I can't stop rejoicing over the fact that Misha's hernia was fixed," says Lyuba. "He is better now and my heart is at rest. He is very active now and he brings wood into the house and sweeps the floor, too. He is my good boy!"
We saw that the family needed more and better food so they can stay well. So, we also gave them some hens so they'll have eggs to eat and sell.
"I'm so thankful to you for your kindness," says Lyuba. "You helped us in our time of greatest need. I will always be grateful to you for that."
"Thank you for fixing my hernia," says Misha. "My stomach doesn't hurt anymore. Thank you!"
