CBN.com — Eight-year-old twins Chin and Chow are the best of friends. They live with their grandparents on a farm in the country. And as much as they love to have fun, they're equally serious about their studies. There was nothing that could keep them away from school or from each other. Until they each started getting severe stomachaches and had to miss a lot of class. Doctors discovered that the root of the problem was contaminated water.
Chow says, "My grandfather and I had been fetching the water for my family from an old well, very far way."
Chin adds, "We didn't like the water at all. There was sand and mud in it, and it tasted really bad."
So Grandma and Grandpa Zhang dug a well of their own, but it was too shallow -- and the twins continued having stomach problems. One time Chow was hospitalized for a whole week. "I cried when I had to go to the hospital because my stomach hurt so much and also because I couldn't go to school. I didn't want to fall behind!"
Chin empathized, "I was so worried about Chow, I knew exactly what he was going through because I had felt the same way! I really wish these stomachaches would stop."
Chin's wish came true when CBN visited their village and decided to dig a deeper well for Zhang's.
Grandpa Zhang says, "What makes me happy is that the well is right in our back yard. We don't have to walk long distances for water anymore."
Grandma Zhang adds, "Now we have clean water – and plenty of it! It's the best. There's no well as good as this one that CBN dug for us!"
The twins are back at school together, both at the top of their class—and feeling better than ever.
"I have not been sick once since I drank the water from the new well," remarks Chow.
Chin concludes, "There is no sand or mud in this water. It's so sweet. Chow and I are so happy. Thank you, CBN!!!"
