Aching for the Truth

Mr. Hourne of Cambodia works hard as a fisherman to support his wife and five children, and he often works extra jobs to put food on the table. But finances are still tight.
So when one of Mr. Hourne’s teeth began to bother him, he tried to work through the pain. There just wasn’t enough money to have a dentist look at it. Instead he resorted to folk medicine. This only made matters worse. For three years, Mr. Hourne suffered with pain and swelling from the infected tooth.
“The cigarette ash did not help, so I poked it with a thorn, but it only got bigger and bigger and more painful,” Mr. Hourne explains.
That’s when Mr. Hourne heard about CBN Cambodia, which offered to help him.
”Now there is hope,” notes Mr. Hourne. “I really want to have my problem fixed. It’s been three years.”
Mr. Hourne suffers from what is known as an impacted tooth. To correct the situation, he would need to undergo a two-hour dental surgery. This surgery would cost about $150, something that he could not afford.
But through the kindness of CBN donors, we were able to give Mr. Hourne the procedure that he badly needed. And the operation was a success! The pain that had affected Mr. Hourne for three years was gone.
Says a grateful Mr. Hourne, “Thank you so much, CBN. Now I won’t have problems providing for my family.”
And because of this life changing experience, Mr. Hourne and his family have committed their lives to the God who made all things possible.
“Jesus Christ is my Healer. God is faithful,” Mr. Hourne comments, smiling.
