Delivering Aid to Iraqis Fleeing ISIS
KURDISTAN – Operation Blessing is on the ground in Northern Iraq, feeding thousands of displaced Christians and other minorities with distributions of staples such as rice, oil, noodles, salt, sugar, tea, beans, lentils, tomato paste, powdered milk. Today teams also served a camp of 2,000 internally displaced persons, refugees within their own country, with fresh foods including eggs, yogurt and cheese.
Operation Blessing teams are also preparing to deliver stoves, blankets, diapers and truckloads of critical food supplies to camps set up on public lands and in churches outside of Erbil.
"These Iraqi Christians are some of the most beautiful and loving people I have ever met," said David Darg, Operation Blessing's vice president of international operations. "They have gone through unimaginable persecution and are now living in very tough conditions. To be here providing them food and essential relief supplies and letting them know they are not alone is such a privilege."
Galatians 6:10 says "Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers." This work in Iraq is the ultimate example of how Operation Blessing is working with churches to bless the poor, the desperate and the suffering around the world.
