Shoveling Snow Helps Save Lives
VIRGINIA – Robert, a retired Navy veteran, has struggled with health issues for some time and must attend frequent dialysis appointments as a result. When a winter storm hit their area the night before one of his appointments, Robert and his wife Ruth found themselves trapped the next morning–unable to leave their home due to the inches of snow that now blocked their driveway.
With no way to remove the snow, Robert and Ruth were desperate for help and didn't know what to do. Then they heard about Operation Blessing's Snow Buddy Program, which offers free snow removal services for residents who do not have the resources or ability to do so.
They immediately put in a request for help and a team soon arrived and cleared all the snow from their driveway. A very thankful Robert was able to make it to his lifesaving dialysis appointment, and he and his wife couldn't be more grateful.
"It is just the most fabulous thing ever," Ruth said. "It really is a blessing to someone who just really can't do it—they honestly saved my husband."
