CBN.com — Mbana works hard to provide for her children in Kenya, but for years she struggled to earn even a dollar a day.

"The money was never really enough, but I knew that a little was better than nothing so I continued doing the jobs," says Mbana. "There were times we had nothing at all, and ran out of food completely. I would prepare strong tea for the children because that was all we had."

Mbana told CBN's Operation Blessing that she wanted her children to go to school so their lives could be different. But they couldn't.

"Many of the children in this area were not going to school because there are so many elephants that roam here freely," says Mbana. "It was too dangerous."

To make things even worse, getting water was difficult too.

"We all walked miles to get dirty water," says Mbana. "Many of us suffered backaches because we carried water on our backs or heads from that long distance."

When Operation Blessing learned about how hard it was for families to survive, a plan was drawn up to make everyone's lives easier and more productive. First, Operation Blessing built a school. Now, Mbana's son has the opportunity to get an education.

Then Operation Blessing started a farming program. Some people grow food for their families, while others, like Mbana take most of what they grow to sell in the market. And the team also dug a well and gave villagers clean water close to home.

"Life is much easier and better now," says Mbana. "My children can go to school and learn. We have all the water we need. And I am earning money in the market. My dream is to save enough to buy a goat, so my children can have fresh milk."

Mbana is so humble, and so grateful for the help she's been given. Operation Blessing wanted to see that simple dream come true, so they bought her a goat, too.

"Thank you so much! All of us here thank God for Operation Blessing," says Mbana. "You have given our people so much. May God bless you."
