Splash House: Changing Lives Through Love

No one knows the struggles that some children live through better than Greg and Pam Ayers. When they discovered that children in their own community had been traumatized through physical and sexual abuse, they decided to do something about it. In fact, they resigned from pastoring a church in Salt Lake City and turned their own home into a ministry for children.

"God was very clear to us that the kids are His heart," says Pam, "so we started thinking OK, what do we do first."

What resulted was Splash House: Spirit, Power, and Love Aggressively Shaping Hearts. Splash House is the only Christian based home for children in the state of Arizona, and one of the few that models what a Christian centered family home should be like.

"There's a total of 14 kids currently, and all but probably four or five those children have sexual abuse or physical abuse in their backgrounds. They've not experienced Christ," Greg says.

It takes a tremendous amount of resources to sustain their ministry. It costs thousands of dollars a month to feed these kids. Breakfast consist of five boxes of cereal and three gallons of milk every single day. Who is going to help them with these basic nutritional needs? Through the faithful partners of CBN, Operation Blessing has come along side this ministry to provide the food they need to survive.

"I would guess about 80 percent of all the food here has come from OB, on their monthly food trucks. If we didn't have Operation Blessing, we would really struggle financially on our food side because it saves us literally thousands of dollars," says Greg.

Along with food, kids need clothes. Recently Greg and Pam received three new additions to the family: Lashae, Isis, and Misty. Sadly, they came to Splash House with only the clothes on their backs.

"The little shoes that Isis had on," explains Pam, "were little white dress shoes, and the front was pretty much worn off and flapping." But thanks to faithful CBN partners, the girls were able to buy new clothes through the Operation Blessing Back To School program.
