Sees the Light

– The call to prayer begins each morning before
dawn. But for 4-year-old Eppi of Jakarta, Indonesia, the light
of dawn may never come. Little Eppi had lost her sight.
"When she was born, she was normal," says Eppi's
mother. "But after two months we were told she was blind.
She wasn't able to see like the other children. There were
white spots in her eyes, and our neighbors said it was the
cataract."
Juvenile cataracts had robbed Eppi of her vision and her parents
were too poor to pay for what would be a routine surgery here
in the U.S.
"The operation costs 1,600,000 Rupia for one eye--and
that only covers the operation," says Eppi's father.
It sounds like a lot of money--but really it's only about
$188 in U.S. currency--to perform the surgery that will radically
change Eppi's life. Thanks to people like you, the funds were
available--and the surgery went forward!
When the bandages were removed, Eppi saw light. And not only
Eppi, but her Muslim family is seeing the love and compassion
of God's people--and the heart of the Father in heaven.
"Now she has shown progress," says Eppi's father.
"She is able to walk in and out of her room. And she
is able to eat and play with her toys herself. And I just
want to say thank you very much to the partners of Operation
Blessing for your help."
