THAILAND OUTREACH
"Gear-ing" Up For Life
CBN.com
Like all little boys, this six-year-old from Payao, Thailand
loves to play. His nickname is "Gear", maybe because hes usually
in high gear, either playing sports or helping out at home. He lives with
his grandmother.
"I am sad but proud to look after my grandchildren," says Gear's grandmother.
"Sometimes I get very tired, but I feel sorry for them because they
have no parents. So I keep fighting for them and looking for any kind
of work."
Gear is an AIDS orphan. Both of his parents died from the disease.
Sadly, that is a common problem in the Payao province. Gears grandmother
cares for him and two other grandchildren, but with just her laundry
business, theres never enough.
"Well we are short of everything, like food and school supplies," explains
Gear's grandmother. "Life was very hard before, but when CBN came to
help, it got much better."
Operation Blessing learned of Gears situation and reached out to help.
First, Operation Blessing paid for him to receive a free medical checkup.
And since his grandmother wasnt able to meet all his school needs,
Operation Blessing provided his school supplies, uniform, and school
lunches. Through their livelihood program, Operation Blessing helped
Gears grandmother expand her laundry business. So now, the family finances
aren't quite so tight.
"This program has helped me so much and our life is much better," Gear's
grandmother says. "I am very happy that you came to help us, CBN. Thank
you!"
Gear loves to go to Sunday school too. His grandmother says that with
all the help he has received, he is now healthier, more obedient and
more polite. It is your gifts to CBN that have touched this family a
half a world away and restored their hope!
"My grandmother is the only one who looks after me," points out Gear.
"She does laundry and its very hard work. Thank you very much for your
help!"
