Freedom from Debt

For Jill Haffley, starting out as new a teacher, the stress of her
job was nothing compared to the problems she was facing outside the
classroom.
"Financially, at the time, it was very difficult. I had found myself
in a mountain of debt."
It was $18,000 of debt, to be exact. Unlike many people who wind
up drowning in debt because of overspending, Jill’s financial
problems came courtesy of a friend who borrowed her credit cards but
never paid her back. Plus, Jill had just broken up with her fiancé.
Frustrated and alone, it was during this time that Jill got involved
in a local church and began watching The 700 Club.
"When I began watching The 700 Club, I began to see how God
was working in other peoples lives and I knew that’s what I wanted."
Jill wanted to see God’s hand in her own life. As she continued
watching, Jill felt led to trust God and become a 700 Club partner.
"When I was watching Pat teach about reciprocity, I was learning
that as you give, God would give back to you. He would reciprocate."
And did He! Jill was able to sell her home and get totally out of
debt.
"It just so happened that the difference between the fair market
price of my condominium and what I paid for my condo was the exact
amount of the debt that I had, so I was completely debt free after
the sale of my condo."
It seems the teacher has learned a thing or two herself about how
the law of reciprocity works. Now Jill is quick to tell people how
God provides.
"I think many people would consider what I went through was coincidental,"
says Jill. "A lot of people are in debt for whatever reason and they may
end up making a certain amount of money or someone loans it to them (to
get out of debt). In my case, it kind of fell in my lap. I consider it
to be much more than a coincidence."
Jill knows it’s God’s faithfulness.
