CBN.com -Bill Linderman is a 5th grade teacher from Scottsdale, Arizona who’s always looking for ways to help people.
Bill says, “My entire backyard is dedicated to growing food to feed people. So I have seven plum trees, I’ve got 15 Anna Apple trees, three pomegranate trees, two fig trees.”
Bill hasn’t always been the big giver that he is today. Even though he’s faithfully tithed since his first teaching job, he says he didn’t always manage the rest of his money well. Not only did he make some bad investments early-on, he refinanced his home twice and barely had any equity in it after 13 years. So Bill asked God for help.
“One day I was jogging in the park,” Bill recalls. “And Jesus spoke to me and He said, ‘Bill pay off my house and I’ll pay off your house.’”
Bill immediately began giving beyond his tithe to help his church pay-off some loans.
He points out, “So when I was inspired by God to start also giving offerings, that’s when God opened the windows of heaven and sent out a blessing to me that I couldn’t contain!”
Bill says it wasn’t long before he started to make a lot of extra money from some text books he’d written.
“I knew that by giving to God things would happen and things did happen and before I knew it, my house was paid off!”
Later, Bill sold that house and moved into a bigger one. In just 7 years, it was paid off too. It’s been Bill’s goal ever since to give above his tithe to his church and to CBN.
“Give and it shall be given unto you, good measure pressed down shaken together and running over," says Bill. "It’s so essential. I can’t imagine living without giving to God.”
