CBN.com - Boca Raton, Florida is home to Katrina Rodriguez, where she owns and operates a successful hair salon. Katrina believes in hard work, but she’s quick to tell you the reason for her success.
“When you start to give, there's just something that opens up the heavens and it just pours out on you,” says Katrina.
When Katrina first started as a hairdresser, money was tight and it stayed that way for years.
“I struggled to ever buy anything, clothes or food,” Katrina recalls. “Like, I would go to the grocery store and I knew it was such a limited budget.”
Then, when Katrina was 34, she started going to church with a friend from work. Soon, she gave her life to Christ. As Katrina grew in her new faith, it was her friend’s example that inspired her to make tithing a priority.
“She was so blessed financially and I saw that, and of course scripture on tithing as well,” Katrina remembers.
Katrina started tithing. She believes God honored her obedience, because almost overnight, her career took off.
“My boss at the time was moving out of state and actually blessed me with her entire clientele list,” Katrina says. “That was something just completely unheard of.”
As her income increased so did her giving.
“It really taught me to start just opening my fist in giving,” declares Katrina.
In addition to tithing to her church, Katrina also gives to CBN.
“God has blessed me with so much business that I can't personally go on the mission field, which is what my heart's desire really is. I want to help and spread the gospel and further the kingdom in anyway I can,” Katrina says. “And I know CBN is worldwide and it’s doing such an amazing job and that's why I wanted to partner with CBN.”
In 2011, Katrina opened her own high-end hair salon. Her business is debt-free and her income has increased by $50,000 every year.
“When you give and you pour into God's kingdom, that's when the blessing comes,” says Katrina. “I believe, as Christians, that's what we are to do here on earth, to give and further the kingdom, and with that comes the blessing and the promise that He will give back.”
Being obedient to God's truth made an incredible difference for Katrina. She made herself available for God's love to flow through her to others, and she is reaping a blessing herself as well.
