CBN.com - Jim and Susie Collins live in Excelsior, MN in the state nicknamed the “land of 10-thousand lakes. They are CBN partners. It was a story about a water project on the 700 Club that convinced Susie to call and make their first pledge.
“When you see that an entire community is changed, for instance, because they are able to irrigate their fields and grow their crops and feed their children, and whenIthink thatIcan give $20-dollars a month and do that? Imean you can change communities, you can change generations,” Susie told us.
Susie said she also gives to CBN as a 700 Club member for more personal reasons: she was raised by a single mom and back then things were very tight financially for her family.
“I have been on the receiving end,” she said, “and I know what it’s like to be in need. I know what it feels like to be hungry and I know what it feels like to worry about whether you’re gonna have a roof over your head.”
Over the years Susie has noticed something else: as they became faithful in their giving, she saw God providing for them. Jim works as a manufacturer’s representative for a large company that makes belts and hoses.
“This past year,” Susie noted, “we saw an increase in his commissions. Here it is, the economy is not doing so well and God provides. You know all of a sudden an account comes through that you didn’t know about, a sales order comes through, a bonus program gets changed that benefits us!”
And Susie said that, because of God’s blessings, they were able to pay for their daughter’s college tuition.
“Four years of college completely paid for! You know when we didn’t know how we were going to do that. It’s thrilling.”
Finally, just last month, Susie was offered a job at an insurance agency without even applying!
“I would definitely, definitely encourage people to become a CBN partner. You will feel so good inside for what you’re doing –you’re helping others--and God will definitely bless you.”
