- You are as likely to find them skiing the face of the Rockies
as shooting the rapids of the Colorado River. Bill and Diane Turner
are outdoors enthusiasts.
But even their passion for adventure is eclipsed by their love of
CBN -- because it is through the 700 Club that they received a special
blessing. While watching the 700 Club, Bill prayed to receive Christ.
"I prayed the sinner's prayer with Pat," Bill said, "and at that minute,
I felt the Holy Ghost enter me."
And although the Turners thought it would be smooth sailing from
there, they were about to hit some white water financially. "We knew
nothing, I mean, we were in debt, we used credit cards, we didn't
know whom we owed or how much we owed ... it was just a black hole,"
Diane explained.
It looked like Diane's dream of going to college would slip through
her hands. In fear and desperation, they stopped tithing... until
they heard Pat Robertson's message about giving and reciprocity.
"Pat really brought it to life with his teachings and his book, The
Secret Kingdom," Diane told CBN, "I came to Bill one night and just
started crying and said, we can't do this...we're stealing from God.
So we started tithing."
"And that's where our blessing comes from," Bill added, "You can't
out-give God. I mean, He opened the windows of heaven and poured out
so much that it just...it was incredible."
But the Turners gifts to CBN are not motivated by the desire to receive
a financial blessing in return.
"I guess the main thing that really excites me is seeing people being
helped by Operation Blessing," Bill said, "We've been very excited
about what the medical missions have done. Bringing the Gospel and
physical healing to so many other countries really blesses us."
"You know, for us to give up a little bit of money -- give up a dinner
or a vacation or whatever it might be, it's worth it. I mean, how
can you put a price on something like that?
