Introduction
CBN's mission is to spread the Gospel throughout the world through mass media, primarily television broadcasts. CBN's international thrust, CBN WorldReach was launched in the fall of 1995 with the goal of seeing 500 million people brought to faith in Jesus Christ.
Mission Statement
CBN follows God’s favor and initiative to present the world with the Gospel message. It partners with other ministries and organizations in strategic use of mass media for spreading the message in a culturally relevant manner throughout the world, training leaders in Biblical principles, and discipling the millions who come to Christ. In addition, through its strategic partnership with Operation Blessing International, human suffering is alleviated through relief efforts, water wells and cisterns, cleft lip and palate surgery, free medical care, micro-enterprise and lifeskill programs, and help for orphans. Innovation, excellence, and integrity are the principal guiding values in these tasks.
Strategy
The primary strategy adopted by CBN is the development of daily or weekly television programs on terrestrial TV stations in selected countries. These programs are often produced in country by local production staff. The objective is that each program will be culturally sensitive and relevant to the ethnic audience as it is viewed in their own language. These broadcasts are complemented by effective follow-up via mail and telephone counseling. To further sustain regular programming, CBN has developed production facilities in Cambodia, Costa Rica, England, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Nigeria, Philippines, South Africa, Thailand, and Ukraine.
CBN also produces TV specials that are placed on national TV in strategic countries. These programs are broadcast in “prime time” and are designed to generate a mass response from the audience. Follow up is handled by a CBN office or a partner church or organization.
Background
The international activities of CBN began in the 1970’s with broadcasts in the Philippines of The International 700 Club.
A 30-minute version of The 700 Club is specially produced for international distribution.
Since that time, the program has been seen around the world in over 200 countries.
More than 20 years of television broadcasts and relief activities in those countries brought about the establishment of CBN WorldReach in 1995.
To date, CBN's television programs have been produced in more than 100 languages. They may be viewed via cable, satellite, and terrestrial broadcast.
