Children in Need
Tragically, approximately 143 million children are orphaned worldwide (children ages 0 to 17 who have lost one or both parents) according to UNICEF. Of these, 15 million were orphaned by AIDS. Without parents, children are often exposed to hunger, hardship, abuse, and heartache. These problems occur not just when children are very young, but also when they outgrow their orphanages. Without mentoring, education, and basic skills – such as how to cook, earn a living, or manage money – many young teens are so desperate that they resort to lives of crime and prostitution. Around the world, multitudes of abandoned children are left wondering if anyone cares. Most have never heard of the Savior, who loves them so deeply. We want to share God’s love and give these forgotten children hope for the future.

What We Do
With the help of generous partners, CBN is reaching out to orphans and vulnerable children through an innovative program called Orphan’s Promise. Our goal is to share the love of Jesus in tangible ways to help lift these children out of misery and despair. CBN WorldReach centers throughout the world form a network that enables Orphan’s Promise to identify and meet the needs of orphans, street children, and other at-risk kids through partnership with local churches and other established ministries.
For example, in El Salvador, unwed teen mothers who are victims of rape now have a new home where they can be nurtured, educated, and taught how to parent their babies. In Moldova, safe houses have been set up for adolescent girls escaping and recovering from being sold into sex slavery. Other Orphan’s Promise outreaches supply children with nourishing food, clean water, housing, health care, education, career training, job placement, and even assistance with developing small businesses. Thousands of vulnerable children in 30 countries in Asia, Africa, Latin America, and Europe, have benefitted from these projects.
