By Kara Lavengood
The 700 Club

CBN.comIn the words of Bill Nabors:

"I started smoking, I think it was the summer of the sixth grade."

"Years ago, it was something that you did because - it was just cool; because everybody else did. Then you find yourself trying to really quit. And you can’t do that."

"I think it was my New Year’s resolution for 20 years, to quit smoking. And you always try to quit smoking and it lasted about three hours."

"I should have quit when my dad died of cancer, but I realize that tobacco was my weakness."

"I absolutely had given up the idea that I was ever going to quit smoking. I figured it was just something that I was going to do."

"I was sitting on the couch watching The 700 Club and, it was Gordon who had a word of knowledge. He said, 'I think there are others who are suffering from habits.'"

"It was the first time I’d ever heard him say it: ‘There’s a person out there that has an addiction,’"

"I was waiting on him to say, you know, drugs, or heroin. And he said, 'No, I think it’s tobacco.' And I went 'Oh, my Lord!'”

Gordon Robertson [on The 700 Club film]: You’re asking, “Can I be free?” And the answer is yes. Jesus came to set the captives free, and that includes you right now. If you just give this addiction to Him.

"I claimed that and I haven’t smoked a cigarette since. I’m going to tell you, it was the most amazing thing to me. I’ve been saying for me to quit smoking - it was a miracle, the desire went away."

"I didn’t want a cigarette. I wasn’t irritable. I was like, 'praise the Lord.' I was happy."

"I can walk around the block and go for a walk with my wife - and puppies - and yeah, I can breathe better. Physically, feeling better and better and better."

"There’s no way I could have ever quit smoking without help from God. You know, I’ve tried and tried to - all kinds of [stop smoking aids]: the gum, and taking medicine; I’ve tried everthing to quit smoking. But in that moment I got that word of knowledge from Gordon. It was an unbelieveable feeling that came upon me and I was released of nicotine forever."
