Global Day of Worship at Regent University

By The 700 Club
Appearance Date: October 28, 2010

CBN.com 11-11-11 A DAY OF WORSHIP
The first annual Global Day of Worship (GDW) is scheduled for November 11, 2011. This may turn out to be one of the most dramatic and powerful days in the history of our world, as countless worshipers will focus their attention on loving and lifting high the name of Jesus. The GDW strives to unify the body of Christ while embracing and celebrating differences in expressions of worship. Worshipers of Jesus Christ from various churches, denominations, organizations and geographic locations with a common vision to see Jesus lifted up and celebrated around the world will participate.

Like the coming of a new year, for one hour in each time zone (7-8 p.m.), a wave of worship and adoration across the nations will unite the Church as one body. Beginning at GMT 7:00 p.m., worship will traverse westward across the globe. Every hour a new time zone’s participants will provide a live stream of their worship to central servers until the entire earth has been part of an event unlike anything experienced before. From individual expressions to large groups, from solemn liturgical assemblies or family gatherings in home churches to loud and exuberant expressions, the globe will worship the Living God on 11.11.11. Believers can worship Jesus through reflective expressions of love or loud, joyful celebration. They can sing hymns and choruses or engage in free-flowing passionate worship.

Those expressions, from myriad tribes and tongues, will be streamed live to an Internet Protocol Television site hosted in Virginia Beach, VA by Regent University and the Christian Broadcasting Network – and made available to viewers around the world. Viewers will be able to watch and participate with fellow believers’ worship via the worldwide web or by logging on to the IPTV site. CBN and Regent University are serving as the hosts and producers of the event. CBN viewers will be able to watch six hours of worship on CBN.com from 6:00 p.m until midnight EST. All 24 hours of worship will be streamed live on the GDW Web site beginning at 1:00 a.m. EST.

The GDW is a call for a unified global movement of worshipers whose sole desire is to be part of fulfilling Jesus’ prophetic vision from John 12:32, “But I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all men to myself.” Imagine the power of one world in worship. This event is not about petition or crying out to God for revival. The purity of the mission is twofold: 1) Love and worship Jesus, and 2) provide an opportunity for the vast varieties within Christendom to be expressed and for appreciation within the Body to grow for one another.

REGENT JOINS GDW
GDW was founded by Regent University Alumna, Eunice Barruel, who set out with her vision to join worshippers together in early 2010. Her alma mater, Regent University, is joining the GDW and is dedicating the week—November 7-11, 2011—for students, staff, faculty and friends to very intentionally refocus on Christ through reflection, renewal, service and worship.
