Gulf Coast Hurricane Relief
Have you tried to imagine what it would be like?
What if you lost everything? What if suddenly you had no home, no job, no clothing, no food, not even water, or a cup from which to drink? For tens of thousands of Americans this is the reality they are facing today. As Christians we have an unprecedented opportunity to be the compassionate hands of Jesus Christ, reaching out to help and heal those who have lost so much.
The Christian Broadcasting Network and The 700 Club are helping churches to connect displaced persons in need of housing with those churches that are willing to share housing accommodations. This is a church to church program. We are currently working with churches in Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, and Texas who are in contact with evacuees in need of temporary housing.
This can be the finest hour for the Church in America. This is our time to share the love of God with devastated and hurting people, while our actions declare to a watching world, that Jesus Christ is alive and He is extending His grace and mercy through the Body of Christ.
Questions You May Want To Ask
Thank you for your interest in helping to house and care for
the victims of Hurricane Katrina and Hurricane Rita.
We have compiled some questions below, that you and your church
may want to consider, as you work to bring evacuees to your area.
Please discuss these questions with your prospective guests and
their pastor. Together, through open communication, you will be
able to achieve a good match and a situation that will be a tremendous
blessing both for you and for those people who have lost everything
in these national tragedies.
Here are some things to consider:
Do you have children?
What are the ages of your children?
Are there any special dietary needs?
Do you have non-English speaking families?
Do you have pets that need housing?
Does any member of your family have any special medical needs?
Will you need special equipment, such as wheelchairs, oxygen, etc?
Do you require ongoing doctor's care?
Are you planning to relocate permanently?
Can we help you find a job in our area?
What job skills do you have?
What was your profession prior to the Hurricane?
Do you use tobacco?
Do you use alcohol?
Strongly consider doing background checks on all prospective evacuees before bringing them to your area.
