How to Bless the Hostess

By The 700 Club

What you will need:
Iron
No-Sew iron-on fabric tape
Fabric
Ribbon
Scissors
Gift Bottle

Instructions:

  • Heat your iron to the correct setting according to you fabric and instructions on your fabric tape package.
  • Take a remnant of fabric and lay it down on a flat (iron-safe) surface so the front of the fabric is facing up. Fold the fabric in half by bringing the bottom edge up to the top, so that the backside of the fabric is showing and the folded edge is horizontal across the bottom.
  • Lay the bottle on the folded fabric vertically in the center so that the base of the bottle is a couple inches from the bottom fold, and make sure there is 3 or more inches from the top of the bottle to the top of the fabric. Trim the fabric on both sides of the bottle leaving 2-3 inches on either side of the bottle to the edge of the fabric. There is no exact science to this process and sometimes you have to “eye” it, so you can always do a test run with an old piece of fabric you don’t mind throwing away afterwards.
  • Take the iron-on tape and measure the length of the opening you will be bonding on each side, and cut the tape ½ inch longer than the opening for some “wiggle room.” Cut two strips—one for each side opening. Leave top open.
  • Lay the bonding tape along the trimmed edge inside of each opening, so that the fabric is still folded with the backside of the fabric showing and the iron-on tape is inside. So you will be ironing the seam with the bag inside out.
  • Take a hot iron, following the instructions on the package of the iron-on tape, and press each side opening to create the side “seams.” Let cool.
  • Once seams have cooled completely, reach down into the bag through the top opening and gently turn the bag right-side-out.
  • Place the bottle inside the bag, roll the top opening of the bag down to cover the trimmed edge. Roll down to desired height.
  • Now your gift bag is ready or the special finishing touches! Take your ribbon and tie around top of bag (if bottle is completely covered) or tie around the outside of the bag at the neck of the bottle. Feel free to be creative—you can tie a bow or a simple piece of twine, add an ornament or tie in some holiday greenery—Whatever fits the Host or Hostess’s personality!
