Curtiss and Sandy Owen: No Vacation from Giving

The 700 Club

CBN.com -Curtiss and Sandy Owen are successful building contractors.

Sandy says, “God has really blessed our business with a lot of work.  It’s been so wonderful. “

Years ago, before Curtiss met Sandy, he started a construction business.  Work was slow, until he became a Christian and learned about giving.

“I started tithing about ten to twelve dollars a week,” says Curtiss.   “And I was faithful to that and soon after that I was tithing as much as I made when I started tithing.”

His company specialized in building churches and his work was in high demand but ultimately he stopped tithing.

Curtiss recalls,  “Because of God’s blessings along the way—I took those blessings and construed them to be something that I had helped him do.”

Sadly, Curtiss lost everything he had worked so hard for.

“When I went broke,” says Curtiss.  “I went broke inside too.  And it took a while to get there but I finally fell to my knees and repented before God.”

Then he met Sandy.   They married and started a new construction business.  From the beginning, they made sure they tithed to their church and ministries like the 700 club.

Sandy recalls, “We’ve been able to pay off debts and the balance sheet is in the best shape it’s been in a lot of years.”

Sandy says they constantly see blessings in their lives but it isn’t always financial, “God doesn’t always bless with money.  It’s nice when he does unexpectedly there’s something that drops out of heaven and bless us financially but a lot times it’s not money.   Good health or close family or just whatever.”

Curtiss and Sandy want God to be in the center of their family and their business.

Sandy states, “He’s so trustworthy and so faithful.  He just proves it over and over.  Well—He doesn’t have to prove it—He is.”
