Che has been in the healing ministry for more than 30 years and says that at some point believers will find themselves praying for the sick or for their own healing. When he gave his life to the Lord, Che says that God healed him emotionally. "My ears, nose, hands, and feet all worked fine; yet I was broken," says Che. "I needed to be fixed inside in a place no doctor could touch." Physical healing is great, but Che says that the inner work is greater than any bodily healing. When God heals a person's body, we become excited and elevate healing over salvation. "With salvation, healing shows me that God cares about making every part of us whole: mind, body, and spirit," says Che.
Through the years, Che has witnessed God's healing power many times. In 2000 Che was speaking in Philadelphia. A woman, Sharon Trainor, was a new believer and was accompanied by her husband, John, not a believer. Both went up for the altar call - Sharon for healing and John for salvation. Sharon had been diagnosed with RSDS (reflex sympathetic dystrophy syndrome, an incurable disease). The pain in her feet was so great that surgeries and painkillers did not work. At the meeting, Che prayed for people to be healed, but Sharon was not healed until Che prayed specifically for generational curses to be broken. When Che commanded evil spirits to leave her, both Sharon and her husband fell backward. After so many years of agony, Sharon was instantly free of pain.
Principles of Faith
Though we may not know the how and why of God's ways of healing, Che says we can know the how and why of what God expects from us. Over the years, Che discovered certain principles that when applied have resulted in wonderful healings, big and small. Che reminds us that the Bible says we have authority over the enemy. We have the authority to expand God's kingdom by healing the sick and casting out demons. "It is my conviction," says Che, "that as we grow in authority, we will see greater miracles and more healings than we do now." To a believer walking in God's authority, the enemy is a toothless lion. We can measure the level of our belief by asking, Do we really believe that Jesus defeated the enemy? Unbelief is a serious sin, and Che reminds us that Jesus could not perform miracles because of the people's unbelief. When it comes to healing, faith plays an integral part. Through his observations, Che has been able to glean five basic principles of faith as they apply to healing:
1. Faith is relational. God wants us to have a personal relationship
with Him and have faith in His Word.
"Have faith in God" (Mark 11:22).
2. Faith is revelational. When words of knowledge are given, people's faith is released and many receive healing. "Faith comes by hearing and hearing comes by the Word of God" (Romans 10:17).
3. Faith is risky. We step out in faith and God backs it up. We do the ridiculous and God does the miraculous. Matt. 14:25-30 tells us of when Peter stepped out of the boat and walked on water.
4. Faith is real. We cannot allow what we see or feel to shake our
faith.
"Faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not
see" (Hebrews 11:1).
5. Faith is resolute. Believe for the healing until the healing comes.
"Whatever you ask for in prayer, believe you have received it, and it
will be yours" (Mark 11:24).
Che reminds us to continue to thank God for our healing, regardless of the manifestation. Once Che was diagnosed with TMJ (arthritis of the jaw) and his jaw locked shut. Doctors said he would just have to live with it. Since Che knew this affliction was not from the Lord, Che began to confess his healing and thanked God for it. More than a year later, Che yawned and fully opened his mouth and realized he was completely healed!
