John Laframboise: Lakeland Revival Ministry

CBN.com LAKELAND REVIVAL

As a staff evangelist for Fresh Fire Ministries, John knew that something was different about the gathering in Lakeland, FL. Originally, senior minister Todd Bentley was scheduled to be at Steve Strader’s 700-seat Ignited Church in Lakeland on April 2, 2008 for four days and then go to Miami for a few days. However, by April 11th, he was still in Lakeland with an outpouring of the Holy Spirit.

Todd asked John to join him in Lakeland about two weeks later to help with the revival.  John assisted with the revival on and off for three months, then continued on with other scheduled events.

The Florida revival is still going strong. By mid-July, Todd took a much needed break for a week. He is now back in Lakeland until August 23. Todd will then have meetings in over 30 cities before returning to Lakeland to see what else God wants to do. GOD TV (www.god.tv) agreed to broadcast the revival before the outpouring. They cancelled their regular evening broadcasts and continue to carry the twice daily meeting (10 am and 7 pm Eastern) as well as streaming the services so they can be seen world-wide. The morning services continue at Ignited Church. To accommodate the large crowds, the evening meetings have outgrown several locations and are now held in two air-conditioned tents that are joined together.

WHAT GOD IS DOING

Through this revival at Lakeland there has been a strong emphasis on miracles and the harvest. John says God is sending out soul winners and raising harvesters. He is restoring the church to what it should be. Like the early church in the Book of Acts, everyday common believers were used to perform miracles.

In 1 Corinthians 2:4-5, Paul talks about demonstrating the Holy Spirit and that our faith should not stand in the wisdom of man, but the power of God. God wants us as Christians to walk in that power and expects us to do the miraculous. He is restoring anointing and authority. The Church has let the devil steal from us, and it has been powerless. This is a time to preach the gospel to the fullness and equip the believers.  Something in the spiritual realm broke out. There is a whole new dynamic and a whole new level.

There are many miracles that have been reported at Lakeland and to people watching the broadcasts on TV and the Internet all over the world. Here are just a few of the reports:

  1. Over 30 documented accounts of people being raised from the dead
  2. Countless documented reports of various medical conditions being healed
  3. X-Rays of broken bones being healed
  4. gold teeth appearing in people's mouths
  5. scars disappearing
  6. young children who come with their parents healing people
  7. reports of pastors all over the world who are now holding their own extended revival meetings (For example, in Dudley, England, Pastor Trevor Baker was impacted by Lakeland and started services and they have gone 80 days and counting.)

John says there are countless miracles that are happening that haven’t been documented yet. Though there has been much skepticism, the proof that this is real is that the results are lasting. They have received thousands of documented instances of healings from the doctors who gave the original diagnoses.

The fruit is there to prove this is the move of God. The gospel is being preached and people are getting healed. When questioned about some of the unorthodox methods of praying for miracles, like accounts of people getting punched or blown on, John says they are moving in the gift of faith, and they just do what they sense God is telling them to do.  God is testing their obedience. Jesus spat in people’s eyes and healed people in different ways. Jesus only did what he saw the Father do. The way the power of God works is sometimes unusual and odd to us.

WHAT GOD IS SAYING

John says with the revival and the miraculous, God is reminding us what He says in Isaiah 60. The Church needs to get up and do its job. God is trying to get our attention.  God is saying you have the power, you have the authority. You’ve been commissioned.  He’s stirring up a hunger.

We need to believe God at His Word. It’s time to get over petty things. Keep your eyes off yourself and let God take care of your things. Get your eyes on the task at hand. Stop restricting God; get Him out of the box. Like it says in Ephesians 5, we need to be the followers and imitators of God.

Matthew 10:7-8 commissions every believer, “And as you go, preach, saying, The Kingdom of heaven is at hand. Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, and raise the dead, cast out devils: freely you have received, freely give.”

JOHN’S TESTIMONY

John grew up in the Catholic Church. He was searching for God but didn’t seem to find Him. By the time he was 11-years-old, John was into drugs, Goth, Marilyn Manson, and was suicidal.

When he was 16, a street preacher asked him if he had broken any of the Ten Commandments. John said he hadn’t murdered anyone yet - the only commandment he knew. The street preacher told John that if John didn’t obey all Ten Commandments, he would go to hell. That convicted John, but he still didn’t know of God’s love for him.

One day, when John was high, he told his friends he would become a Christian. Immediately, he felt a hand pull and grab something out of him. It was then that he prayed and gave his life to Jesus. The Holy Spirit came down on him. He was familiar with the supernatural because he had encountered the demonic, but this was different.

Though he didn’t know what preaching the gospel was, he immediately started telling people on the street what God had done for him. He was on fire for the Lord. After graduating from high school, he went to Bible school for two years, and then spent seven months in Indonesia around the time of the tsunami. From there he was a youth pastor for a year before he went to Fresh Fire Ministries.

Now, John is a revivalist who operates powerfully in the prophetic and in healing. Signs and wonders follow him wherever he goes, and many churches where John has ministered have received a strong impartation, which brings them into a new level and operation.

He has a strong desire to see the lost come to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ through the demonstration of God’s power and to equip and prepare the church for the end time harvest (1 Cor. 2:4, 5). He believes that through intimacy with Holy Spirit, and by walking in obedience, we will see God’s plans revealed on earth. He is starting his own ministry, Winds of Healing, which will still work closely with Todd Bentley and Fresh Fire.
